マドンナが監督する自身のバイオグラフィ映画の制作が、夏から世界ツアーを開催することになったため、ひとまず中断されるそうだ。『Deadline』や『Variety』は、ユニバーサル・ピクチャーズがこのプロジェクトから手を引いたと伝えている。
マドンナは数年前からこのバイオグラフィ映画に取り掛かっており、『Variety』は2022年6月、ジュリア・ガーナーにマドンナ役のオファーがなされたと報じていた。
しかし、ツアーの開催が決まったことで状況は一変。まだ、マドンナやユニバーサル・ピクチャーズから正式なコメントはなされていないものの、関係者によると、マドンナは40年のキャリアを総括する世界ツアーにのみ集中したいと考えており、この先も映画の制作には関わっていくつもりだが、とりあえずは無期延期するという。
マドンナの約3年ぶりの新ツアー＜Madonna: The Celebration Tour＞は7月15日にカナダで開幕し、年内、北米、ヨーロッパで開催される。2024年も続くものと推測されている。
